notes:
Text notes that the Eskimaux [Eskimo] curlew (Numenius N. borealis) inhabited Labrador and Hudson's Bay. It is now believed to be extinct due to excessive hunting and the extinction of its food source. The little woodcock, perhaps Scolopax minor, inhabited the area from New York to the Carolinas. Text makes it evident that both birds served as food. Thomas Pennant was a Welsh naturalist and antiquary. Peter Mazell was a British engraver of flowers and animals. Title for v. [2] and [3] reads: Arctic zoology. Imprint is the same as in v. [1].
