notes:
The text describes the negros unwinding from a hard day's work by getting together to dance. Choris served as artist on Otto von Kotzebue's expedition of 1815 to 1818. On this voyage, Kotzebue traveled from Russia around South America via Cape Horn, visited many Polynesian islands, and charted the Alaskan coast. Image placed horizontally on page.
